Abergavenny - famous for its two-day Food Festival

Location: Abergavenny is a picturesque town situated in the South Eastern corner of Wales, only 20 miles from the English border. We have 160 members and rising. We meet Tuesdays and Fridays at our local football Club, where we have the use of 2 rooms and a bar at lunchtime.

Activity Groups: Architecture, Philosophy (History of Ideas), Around the World, Art Appreciation, Poetry Appreciation, Design, Science & Technology, English Literature, Scrabble, Etymology & Language, Social History of Abergavenny, History, Tai Chi, Music Appreciation, Walking Group, Natural History & Gardens, Wordsmiths, Opera Appreciation, Around the World, Play Reading, Art Appreciation, English Literature, Natural History & Gardens, Wordsmiths, German, Walking Group, Scrabble, and there are a few others. On Sunday we have our Sunday Luncheon Club.

What makes our group successful: Apart from a good variety of special interest groups, I think the social side is very important. For a certain number of people the social interaction is their main reason for joining, so we have a variety of social occasions throughout the year. We've also got a hardworking committee who get on well with each other.
