McGill Community for Lifelong Learning - Montreal

My name is Sharen McDonald and I am a member of MCLL - McGill Community for Lifelong Learning in Montreal, Canada.

2. Members: We have over 800 members coming from all walks of life.

3. Our range of activities includes peer-learning study groups in English and French on a wide range of topics from art to current events, history, music and literature from around the world and much more; 2 hour sessions are held once a week for 10 weeks during 3 terms: autumn, winter and spring and there are lectures offered on Fridays. “Wonderful Wednesday” lectures fill the summer, and we offer an intergenerational programme pairing seniors with ESL students studying at McGill University, who often form warm and lasting friendships, outreach programs, the “Brainy Bar” for one-on-one technological tutoring, and social outings to local places of interest, such as the Montreal Botanical Gardens or the Train Museum and member luncheons.

4. What I like best about my U3A: the wonderful, fascinating people I have met and the doorways opened to new studies!

5. My personal message: Smile and be happy! Listen to the river and the wind; feel the sun and the rain on your face, and share your laughter!
