Name of the U3A: Spire U3A

Location: Spire U3A is the youngest and smallest of the three Salisbury UK U3As. It meets in Harnham Memorial Hall. The Hall commemorates Harnham soldiers of World War I.

Membership: Our membership is at present 237.

Activity groups: Our meetings are held on the second Monday of the month, commencing at 10.00 am, where members have the opportunity to meet and to listen to a range of excellent speakers. We have a wide variety of activity groups covering Art, Walking, Music, Opera, Languages and others. Our Tea Dance, Photography and Science and Technology Groups are very strong and attended by all three U3As.

Our Newsletter is published on alternate months and can be read on the Spire U3A website, with reports of recent events, activities and news of upcoming events.

Comment: We are a friendly and welcoming U3A, bonded by experience and pleasure in learning. We have an annual New Members’ Coffee Morning, which is always appreciated. We were established in June 1998 by a Steering Committee with the help of Phyllis Babb, then Chairman of Sarum U3A.

The three U3As united for the Millennium by presenting a sundial to the City. The words: ‘Time speeds up until it is nothing. Therefore use it before it is gone,’ were composed by Anne Boutell.

We are happy to welcome visitors from around the world. Can we help you make your stay in Salisbury a pleasant and fulfilling event?

We have members willing to guide you round our city and countryside. Also there are many activity groups that would delight in having temporary members to join in.
