Wokingham U3A

Len Smith, Wokingham U3A writes:

Location: Wokingham Borough is 30 miles west from London. It's made up of 17 parishes and towns and is a diverse community. It offers a unique blend of countryside and town, historic features and up-to-date facilities, big business and market town trading. The economic prosperity of the borough, pleasant environment and excellent transport links, make it an attractive place to live and work, in fact according to a report published by Public Health England, Wokingham has the lowest premature mortality rates of all local authorities in England. The population of the town is approx. 41,000.

Membership and activity groups: Wokingham U3A has around 1800 members; we are in our 24th year and growing at a rate of about 5% per annum.

We have about 180 Groups covering numerous subjects including Archaeology, Art, Astronomy, Military History, Latin, French, Greek, Italian, German, Computing, What the Papers Say, Technology, Digital Photography, Genealogy, Golf, Jazz Appreciation, Poetry Reading, etc., and you can find a full list here.

Comment: If groups become full, we start waiting lists and as soon as there are sufficient numbers waiting we endeavour to start parallel groups, for example our MOTO (Members On Their Own) are at MOTO 7. For more information please see our website at http://www.wokinghamu3a.org.uk/
